Yoinks!

Somehow or other, a definite date has been set for my defense: May 1 ! Even a definite time has been set: ten to noon! The dissertation needs to be to my committee by April 17.

Fortunately, we had yet another blizzard and my husband got to stay home yet again and watch the kids. I was able to finish revising two chapters. This leaves one chapter that needs serious, big-time revision, because it currently blows, and a conclusion that needs to be written. And then a general revision of the whole thing and proofreading and editing and making sure there are no widows or orphans or whatever, which is something the graduate college apparently cannot tolerate. I am panicking? Mildly.

And yet I'm also rather excited to see this process finally drawing to a close.

On the menu today? Finish re-reading Sarah Scott's Millennium Hall so I can figure out what the heck it has to do with my dissertation.

Don't panic. That's totally do-able. Just try to focus on one task at a time. You've five weeks, which doesn't seem like a ton of time, but really is. You can get so much done in a month, and clearly can get THAT much done in a month. And then . . . THEN . . . DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE! And done=Dr.

Very cool

Okay, now I'm PUMPED! Although I sort of forgot that I was supposed to finish that novel today until I came back to the blog and saw my post. Too busy watching multiple episodes of Sell This House I guess. I'm always just so fascinated by how much difference a coat of paint and a little staging can make! Talk about needing to focus. I'd better put on a pot of coffee and get to it.

At first I though =Dr. was some kind of bizarre emoticon I'd never encountered before. But now I totally get it!

Wow, you're really getting there! With the progress you're making, your defense date sounds totally do-able. And I wish you a few more blizzards!

I don't know how I missed it when I first read your post, but your uni is obviously heartless, what with its terrible prejudice against widows and orphans. I expect they want to send them from the dissertation to the workhouse. Shocking!
