Okay, given the four inch scar down my back, I'm not sure I can commit to 20,000 words. I would like to commit to 10,000 with the option of blowing that out of the water (not something I'm convinced I can do, but something I would like to do). I'm only allowed to sit for ten minutes, so most of my writing has to be done standing, which isn't my favorite thing. But I'm working on it.
I have all but two of my job applications done (hopefully there will be follow-up work there, but the initial applications are out). I will of course keep checking the job list and the chronicle, etc, but I feel as though I can turn most of my attention to my dissertation. I have some reading to do before the writing, but that's okay. I'm shooting for AT LEAST a full draft of my rhetorical listening chapter.
So, good luck to all!

Way to go with the job applications, Abby! And best of luck on the recuperation plus writing. I've been thinking of you whenever I sit down.
Thanks Suzanne. I get to add 5 minutes to my sitting time each week until I hit 30 minutes. You'd be surprised how much a person can miss uninterrupted sitting.
Four inches sounds like such a challenge. I hope you get well soon.
I don't know, but it is more difficult to write while standing. I've noticed that I can stand at my computer to research, but I need the stool to write. Maybe its because research is assisted by fidgeting and writing requires sitting still.
Maybe get yourself a dictaphone and start talking and walking. Get someone else to sit down and type up your writing.
